Q: What is granular activated carbon?
Granular activated carbon is made of highly porous adsorbent material, produced by heating organic matter such as coal, wood and coconut shells in the absence of air, which is then pulverized into particles. For many residential applications this may be 6-12 months. Before putting a new cartridge into service, drain 2-3 gallons of water into the waste to rinse off the toner. Water flows from bottom to top with rubber gasket on top.
